Summary

The Security Specialist is responsible for providing and coordinating security services that support business leaders and associates at the Distribution Center.  Understanding security principles and Carhartt strategy, the Security Specialist provides nimble and dynamic services.  They will implement security–related projects, and ensure collaboration with other HR functions, departments, and vendors. This position will serve as the primary contact for security issues, processes, and services for 4th shift.

Responsibilities

  • Promote security awareness by enforcing security related policies and procedures. Identify and report irregularities to the Security Manager, US Supply Chain. 
  • Conduct risk assessments and security audits as directed by the Security Manager. 
  • Following our Investigation Process, initiate, lead, and assist in investigations at the RCV location as needed, partnering with the Safety and HR functions when necessary. 
  • Ensure protocols for 24-hour response and notification for alarms, emergencies or other critical incidents. 
  • Provide direction and guidance to contract security staff at assigned facility. 
  • Deliver security awareness programs for associates, contractors and visitors to establish a safe environment, to prevent or mitigate security and safety incidents including workplace violence. 
  • Assist in security–related projects as needed.  These may include security technology projects, updates to policies, crisis management planning for US Supply Chain as needed.  

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience required in Criminal Justice or Related Field
  • Security certification preferred (e.g., PCI: Professional Certified Investigator; CPP: Certified Protection Professional; PSP: Physical Security Professional) 
  • Investigation certification preferred.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience within Corporate Security or Loss Prevention inclusive of the following:   
    • 3-4 years of investigations experience
  • Experience within the manufacturing or distribution industry preferred.   
  • Experience working in union environment preferred. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to communicate with all levels including management. 
  • Outstanding organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and attention to detail. 
  • Intermediate computer skills, specifically MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Familiarity with card access and camera systems.
