Job Summary  

​​The Channel Manager 1 leads a sales team in driving revenue through successful execution of a channel distribution strategy. The CAM1 leads a team comprised of Reps managing emerging and/or legacy accounts, including the Inside Sales Team for their Channel. The CAM1 will manage Reps with some High Touch accounts but less than the CAM2. This leader is particularly skilled at connecting front line, account level work to the larger channel and organizational strategy. They successfully perform against key financial objectives, including the channel’s assortment, revenue, margin and inventory requirements. In partnership with their team of Account Representatives, they build a detailed account plan, across similar accounts. Much of their day to day is spent coaching and developing Carhartt’s future leaders.   ​

Representative Responsibilities  

  • Coach, mentor and develop ​team of account representatives​.  

  • Results: Accountable for the successful execution of revenue, channel and organizational objectives at an account level.   

  • Account Portfolio: The CM1 leads a team of Reps responsible for emerging and/or legacy accounts. Due to the lower touch nature of the majority of their accounts, there will be more individual accounts in the CM1’s portfolio. 

  • People Development: Spends a significant amount of time working alongside their team of Account Representatives coaching and mentoring. Is a skilled coach who communicates with candor, fosters optimal performance and directly manages under-performance.  

  • Business Development: Identifies and builds a plan against account acquisition or maximization opportunities to maintain and grow brand market share. 

  • Relationships: Maintains and builds relationships with Category, Marketing and Buying Office management. 

  • Operations: Understand, communicates and ensures compliance to operational procedures and corporate policies. Completes successful forecasting across portfolio of accounts. 

  • Financial: Supports Director of Sales in managing Channels budget. Responsible for budget and expenses within portfolio of accounts and Account Managers. Assists in the administration of credit management. 

  • Go to Market Strategy: Participates and/or leads the Go-to-Market process, task force project teams or initiatives by gathering information and offering insight that will help drive results in assigned channel and global marketplace. Provides input on product strategies to support sales growth and profitability. Assists in the identification, evaluation, and communication of new product / market opportunities. 

  • Industry Savvy: Observes and communicates first-hand knowledge of upcoming trends, brands and consumer insights. 

  • Use Carhartt designated software and/or CRM to manage account relationships, accelerate sales, streamline operations and optimize initiative performance 

 

Required Education  

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent years of practical experience, preferably in business or related field. 

 

Required Skills & Experience  

  • Minimum of 8-9 years’ successful sales experience required (apparel industry preferred), District Level vertical job experience for reputable lifestyle brand will be considered. 

  • Previous leadership experience preferred, demonstrated through project management, account management or management of others  

  • Demonstrated excellent strategic planning and critical thinking skills; able to develop and initiate breakthrough strategies that fuel business growth 

  • Strong communication and presentation skills; demonstrates flexibility in approach based on audience needs and reactions 

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills; adept at recognizing who the decision maker is and how to close the sale 

  • Demonstrates the ability to integrate our brand strategy, Go-To-Market strategy, product knowledge, and knowledge about competition to clearly articulate the benefits of our products over others 

  • Excellent time management and organization skills; manages large and complex initiatives 

  • Demonstrated ability to recognize selling opportunities in competitive adjacencies in order to displace competitors 

  • Experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office and/or Apple programs and developing/presenting large scale presentations 

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions  

  • Typical work from home and/or office environment. Extended periods of time sitting, standing, typing on a computer is required.  

  • Willing to work some weekends if necessary. 

  • National and/or International travel required (up to 60%). 

  • May be required to lift up to 30lbs 

  • ​​This position has a Remote location: Associate will have no regular requirement to be on-site. Travel on-site is limited to special events.​
