Job Summary 
The primary responsibility of the Cost Accountant is to maintain and analyze product cost data and inputs. This position performs maintenance, pulls data and creates analysis on cost standards and communicates cost information internally to support various business decisions and analysis of financial metrics and performance.

Representative Responsibilities 

  • Prepare product cost estimates. Collaborate with cross functional teams such as Engineering, Sourcing, and Global Product throughout this process. Analyze and provide feedback with regards to various supplier / vendor prototype cost quotes.
  • Maintenance of key master data items including current and historical cost standards such as freight, broker, royalty, raw material, duty, labor and overhead rates in both Carhartt ERP system and PLM product development systems.
  • Identify and input cost standards for new vendor setup in Carhartt ERP systems.
  • Support the broader Inventory Costing team on general ledger account reconciliations related to cost standards or inventory.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot cost data including releasing new item costs in Carhartt ERP systems.
  • Ad hoc troubleshooting and analysis on intercompany transfer pricing.
  • Support cost book updates and related analysis. Audit results to ensure accurate product costs.
  • Support interim and year-end audits, work directly with external auditors and internal partners. 
  • Assist as needed with various ad hoc projects and reporting related to product costing, including make/buy analysis, historical cost trends, etc. 
  • Maintain positive open lines of communication with cross functional teams in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the various cost processes. 

 

Required Education 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

 

Required Skills & Experience 

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance related position
  • Apparel industry experience preferred
  • Experience in an environment of both internal manufacturing and global sourcing preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems required; SAP experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to evaluate problems using applied mathematics required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to communicate with all levels including management and retail partners
  • Organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload and attention to detail

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

  • Willing to work some weekends if necessary
  • This position has a Hybrid location: Associate will work on-site regularly as needed for work activities.
