Job Summary

The Finance Manager plays a key role on Carhartt’s Direct to Consumer finance team.  The person in this role will have full P&L responsibility for our growing Retail business, inclusive of 50+ Carhartt branded stores. In addition to full Retail P&L responsibilities, this person will be tasked with measuring individual store level performance and return on investment.  This associate will research trends, provide financial variance explanations, and own the monthly forecasting and annual budgeting responsibilities for the Retail business. This role is highly collaborative with great exposure to the broader Direct to Consumer business. This person will be a trusted financial partner for our cross-functional D2C team by providing transparency to business performance and appropriately challenging business partners on key strategic decisions.

Representative Responsibilities 

  • Lead the Annual Budget and Monthly Forecast Process for the Retail business, working closely with senior leaders across the Retail organization to align financial goals with strategic initiatives.  This includes capital expenditure planning for retail store expansion, renovations, and improvements.  Analyze total Retail and store level financial performance and hold regular touchpoints with business partners to provide transparency to financial results, financial forecasts, opportunities and risks.
  • Conduct in-depth Return on Investment (ROI) analysis on key investments, including new store openings, remodels, marketing campaigns, and technology upgrades to determine financial viability and impact.  Hindsight store performance, comparing actual results to expectations and partner with the business to provide clear, data-driven insights to influence decisions and drive overall performance.
  • Partner with D2C Leadership and Corporate FP&A in the development of Retail’s 3-year Long Range Plan, aligning the company’s strategic growth initiatives and long-term objectives.  Build detailed financial models incorporating revenue growth projections, cost structures, capital expenditures, and margin projections.
  • Assist in the development of the D2C monthly financial deck and participate in the presentation to D2C Leadership, clearly articulating financial insights, answering questions, and providing financial guidance with regards to the Retail business.
  • Act as the primary finance business partner for the Carhartt Retail business. Understand business objectives to identify and execute improvements to processes and drive financial efficiencies.
  • Key liaison to our Retail Center of Excellence to ensure cross-functional alignment
  • Partner with teams external to D2C who impact our business, including Supply Chain and Information Technology
  • Ad-Hoc Financial Modeling to help support key business decisions
  • Partner with accounting to complete monthly accruals and journal entries

 

Required Education 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field  
  • MBA or Certified Public Accountant preferred

 

Required Skills & Experience 

  • 8 or more years of successful experience in quantitative role (i.e. Finance, Accounting) inclusive of:
    • 3 or more years of successful experience leading and managing multiple projects 
  • Dedicated, self-motivated, proactive individual with strong desire to learn the business
  • Ability to motivate others, communicate with all levels of organization and influence decisions
  • High level of proficiency in Excel 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and facilitation skills 
  • Problem solving skills evidenced by demonstrated results in past positions 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to manage several tasks concurrently 
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with business leaders and positively influence

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

  • Travel (5%) 
  • Willing to work some weekends, if necessary 
  • This position has a Hybrid location: Associate will work on-site regularly as needed for work activities.
