Job Summary
Reporting into the Chief Financial Officer, the Sr. Director of Global Tax will lead all aspects of the global tax strategy, including planning, reporting, income tax accounting, and compliance. This position will provide leadership and guidance for all tax-related matters and serve as the steward to establish best practices as the company continues into its next stage of growth and operational maturity.
This position ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations across the globe while working to minimize tax liability and maximize after tax profits. This position will partner with financial management within the Company and third-party service providers to ensure policies and processes mitigate risk and proactively identify savings opportunities. The position requires savvy and creative tax planning expertise. The position requires a proven ability to research and communicate technical tax issues clearly to non-tax people and work effectively across all levels of internal process owners and external advisors.

Representative Responsibilities
- Coach, mentor and develop a small team of tax professionals creating an engaging, high performance learning environment for peers and direct reports.
- Develop and manage the department budget as well as reporting on qualitative and quantitative results
- Direct, develop and implement comprehensive global tax strategies, policies and procedures that align and support the company’s business objectives.
- Collaborate with the business and proactively advise leaders on tax-related issues and potential impacts on business operations.
- Lead domestic and international tax planning initiatives and ensure compliance with relevant tax laws including foreign treaties.
- Coordinate with treasury to ensure tax efficient management, minimizing foreign withholding and related taxes and capitalizing on timely use of foreign tax credits (or deductions).
- Responsible for all global tax compliance, including federal, state, local, and international income tax, sales & use tax, gross receipts tax, business and occupancy tax, value added tax, payroll tax, franchise tax, and property tax (including, escheatment).
- Oversees the preparation and timely filing of all corporate tax returns, and related reports including all calculations related to annual, quarterly and monthly payment compliance.
- Oversee financial reporting of the Company’s current and deferred, domestic and foreign tax provision in accordance with ASC 740, including review and approval of quarterly and annual financial statement footnotes and related disclosures.
- Provide risk management support to include proactive identification and communication of issues and risks regarding tax compliance and regulatory issues. Provide innovative solutions and identify tangible business benefits. Develops risk mitigation plan where appropriate.
- Direct all responses to tax audits with all applicable domestic and international jurisdictions corresponding with tax authorities as needed. Advocates on behalf of the Company to ensure audit results are fair and reasonable.
- Oversee global transfer pricing strategy and compliance including maintenance of global transfer pricing studies, master file, and country by country reporting.
- Engage with governments to negotiate credit and incentives for company expansion objectives.
- Provide guidance on employment taxes and the tax aspects of employee benefit programs and executive compensation plans.
- Partner with in-house and outside counsel on drafting and negotiating the tax provisions of contracts and other legal documents.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- An advanced degree (JD, LLM, or Master's) in Taxation or a related discipline is preferred
- CPA or equivalent certification is preferred
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 12-15 years of experience in corporate tax, including global tax operations, preferably within a multinational organization.
- Expertise in direct selling, consumer products, or e-commerce industries is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience with a track record of developing and attracting talent.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with peers, subordinates and executive management
- Experience U.S. federal, state and local income tax and indirect tax in a global structure; including review of returns and supporting workpapers, audit defense, as well as planning and risk reduction strategies
- Demonstrated excellence in tax modeling, analysis and problem solving
- Must demonstrate a conceptual and business-oriented approach to communicating taxes and tax planning, and be able to effectively communicate with and influence non-tax business leaders
- Possesses a strong attention to detail driving a high degree of accuracy and thoroughness of deliverables
- Dedicated, self-motivated, proactive and high energy individual with a strong desire to exceed expectations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and executive presence
- Strong ability to direct multiple projects concurrently managing time effectively to address high priority items in a timely manner
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Typical office environment; cubicle setting
- Extended periods of time sitting, standing, typing on a computer is required
- Willing to work some weekends if necessary
- Travel will be required (up to 25%)
- This position has a Hybrid location: Associate will work on-site regularly as needed for work activities.
