Summary

This position is primarily responsible for leading the global customs and trade compliance program providing strategic direction to ensure the company is compliant with all applicable trade laws, regulations, and procedures.  Specific areas of responsibility include the development and implementation of short- and long-term strategic objectives, business plans, policies, budgets, and programs for Customs and Trade Compliance operations to achieve the corporate goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

•    Coach, mentor and develop team regarding progressive responsibilities in all areas of Global Customs, Trade and C-TPAT compliance.
•    Oversight and management of global trade compliance program roadmap in coordination with Finance, Legal, Supply Chain and IT to ensure the Company is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including U.S. export control laws and regulations.
•    Alignment of corporate global education, training, program development, implementation, maintenance, and audit of customs compliance, free trade agreements, export control, trade compliance and C-TPAT.
•    Global oversight of global trade compliance program and brokerage/customs activities and interpretation of applicable regulations and regulatory trade requirements by leveraging people, technology and processes.
•    Maintain awareness of worldwide global trade regulatory requirements primarily United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America secondary Europe, Asia, and Africa.
•    Strategic resource to advise senior management on global trade compliance requirements.
•    Work collaboratively with cross-functional leadership to ensure robust internal controls are integrated into operational processes and procedures.
•    Create and manage an annual operational and capital expense budget that promotes growth and profitability.
•    Select, negotiate, and manage customs service providers to align with Company requirements.  
•    Continuous improvement of customs and trade compliance by using industry best practices and KPI’s as metrics of performance to compare as benchmarks.
 

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Required in Supply Chain Management or Related Field

Required Skills and Experience

•    10 years’ experience in Customs and Trade Compliance, preferably in a manufacturing supply chain environment.
•    A minimum of 5 years’ experience preferred in the apparel industry.
•    Must be a US Licensed Customs Broker. 
•    Experience in Canada Customs required. Mexico Customs strongly preferred.
•    Leadership experience managing multiple associates in manager or director level.
•    Experience with LTL, FTL, Air, Small Package, and Ocean modes of Transportation.
•    Experience in customs compliance, customs brokerage, global standards, and freight forwarding.
•    Experience in IMMEX and IVA compliance for Mexico preferred.
•    Experience with airfreight and critical delivery situations a plus.
•    Experience with ACE and CARM system
•    Experience of interacting with Customs Brokers strongly preferred.
